Ethiopia KidsHubTV Update

‘Tesfa Tiwilid’ is the name of the children’s television show inspired by KidsHubTV, made in Ethiopia for Amharic speakers globally. It has been a year since we first reported on the TV show  in KidsHubs news. The TV show has now been on air twice a week, every Friday evening and Saturday morning on the El Shaddai Satellite Network. Elizabeth the show’s Producer shared “the show is loved by many, the feedback is encouraging.  We are grateful to God and partners like you (KidsHubTV).”IMG_20150827_114708

Forty six episodes have been produced to date and ten animations such as “The Parable of the Lost Sheep” from the free resource website Max7, have been translated into Amharic. Elizabeth and the team have worked hard to make the show relevant to Ethiopian children, their parents and carers and to those in children’s ministry. ‘Tesfa Tiwilid’ has covered topics such as how to build a relationship with God through prayer and reading the Word of God; with self (by accepting themselves, building confidence and self-esteem); with others (respecting and valuing others and appreciating diversity) and with the environment. They have looked at the sensitive issue of child abuse and provided information to children on how to protect themselves. The show has also modeled best practice for children’s ministry volunteers, parents and carers in how to minister to teenagers.

Please pray for the team as they face challenging times due to lack of funds and equipment. They have been filming with rented equipment and contractually hired people, which are very expensive. Their hope is to be self-sustainable by owning the necessary equipment and trained staff. We can praise God too for all the episodes filmed and aired to date and the many children and adults who have heard about Jesus as a result.
