Imagine being scared for your life for no other reason than you looked different. For 270 albino and disabled children in a special community in Shinyanga, Tanzania this was their experience. In many parts of the Lake Victoria zone albinos were killed because of witchcraft and traditional beliefs. For this reason the Tanzanian government established a refuge in Shinyanga to help and serve the lives of these special children. It was to these children a group of church and children’s ministry leaders and kids came to spend the day as part of a compassion project. The mixed aged group of leaders, 23 children and adults, came from a number of churches as part of a two day training in how to run a Sports and Games event. The second day of the training involved the participants running an outreach event for the children in the Shinyanga community. Games, stories and some KidsHub fun with cameras were run with the children. Training leader Andrew said: “We thank God for the new born local KidsHub in the very kids centre”. Continue to join Andrew in praying for this special community and for the local churches in the area that they might see the need to reach out to these fantastic children.
What a great idea – children and leaders joining together to show compassion that works!
