From cities to remote villages, KidsHubs trainers have been busy over the last few months in India. One highlight from these trainings was the story of a seasoned children’s pastor who attended the Imagine conference in Hyderabad in late 2015. KidsHub trainer Pearl wrote: “The pastor would have trained hundreds of Sunday school teachers and those interested in children’s ministry. He and his wife were so shocked that in all their training, they were focussing only on evangelizing and emotional healing but not on discipleship. He said they are now committed to make that shift in their ministry. He is also translating KidsHub lessons into Telugu and this has challenged him to think about discipling children more seriously. He wants us to come with him to rural villages and train others. The request for training especially those from rural villages and orphanages is overwhelming. The city preachers demand a lot of money to minister in these places. They were even happy and verbally blessed the KidsHub team for providing the resources free of charge and as an open resource.”

As Christmas approaches stories of hope from KidsHubs around the world make us aware of how many leaders and children have experienced Immanuel ‘God with us’ throughout the year. A gardening hub with teen offenders in a Guatemalan prison and 3000 children in 5 regions across Egypt growing in Jesus through KidsHubs. A new venture was begun in Uganda building Community KidsHubs with playgrounds and a hub for adolescent girls was established. Sick children in a Kenyan hospital joined the fun of KidsHubs while teen leaders in Togo passed on their skills running their own Media hub in a slum area. 2020 leaders trained and over 7000 children involved in KidsHubs learning skills for life and how to follow Jesus. A car breaking down on a 170km road trip to run a KidsHub training in a rural area is not usually a source of hope. But hope is just what Pearl & Alex were able to bring a young pastor fresh out of Bible College when they were forced to spend a night with his family in his rural village when their car broke down. “We had an amazing day of training 360 children and 30 leaders in KidsHubs at a Compassion project working with 1for50 trainers from Telangana (India). But with our car breaking down we thought there must be some reason why God brought us to this pastor’s place.” The young pastor had just returned to his home to run 12 churches in nearby villages and none of them had any children’s ministry. He was facing many challenges teaching the children so he was thrilled to learn about KidsHubs. “He was telling us that God must have sent us to show him these new things,” said Pearl. “I’m not surprised anymore. God does ordain our steps, we only have to be willing to obey and do.”

Children in an orphanage in Kuala Pilah, Malaysia took part in a 3 day KidsHub Video training with Ramesh. With no access to video cameras normally, Ramesh excitedly shared “the Director of the home at first was not sure, but when he saw the interest of the children he gave me permission to run a 3 day training. After seeing the children’s difference in handling video cameras he has promised to send 2 or 3 children into visual media. He was also shocked (in a good way) to see the new opportunities to communicate the gospel.” The KidsHubs media sessions enabled Ramesh to enter as a vocational trainer. Hope was in abundance for these children as Ramesh shared how excited they were “learning the Bible in fun and interactive ways.”

20 leaders over 20 days in October joined a Max7 children’s ministry school to learn skills and programs to help in their local context in Tanzania. Andrew, training organiser, has been running these ministry schools twice a year for several years. “We enjoyed sports and games, active and participatory learning, teaching methodology for pre and elementary school (teaching) and visited an orphanage as part of our compassionate project.” Andrew trains leaders in the freely available resources like Ubabalo – a sports coaching & discipling tool, Max7 including the BibleMax curriculum and of course KidsHubs.

Ramesh, KidsHubs & children’s ministry champion in India, has been busy. We receive almost weekly reports of KidsHubs trainings he is running with church pastors & children’s ministry leaders in his city, Chennai. He uses the KidsHubs Half Day Vision Casting Training Guide and passes on his extensive skills in puppetry & video. He has begun monthly half day KidsHubs & ministry training for 18 leaders at a church in Maduravoil, Chennai. He ran training for a mission’s organisation that supports 20 pastors across his State, Tamil Nadu. Ramesh said “(a) few pastors acknowledged the importance of children’s ministry and were also happy about the free (resource) websites Max7 and KidsHubs.” Ramesh has also been filming a video album of games for use in children’s ministry.

 

Imagine 1 leader trained for every 50 children – every child, every community covered with passionate & equipped children’s ministry leaders. KidsHubs will be part of a 1for50 training in Hyderabad, India Fri 13 – Sat 14 November. Know anyone in that city? Send them along!

“KidsHubs came at the right time”. These were the words of Jummai a children’s ministry worker who was part of the Nigerian Kids Hubs training with several ministries in June this year. On returning back home God opened a door and she was able to train 120 children’s workers from the New Life for All. The 2 day training challenged the teachers on new ways to teach kids using life skills. They had presentations on carpentry, hair dressing, tailoring, farming and even peanuts.

Jummai was also able to start a KidsHub on farming tools and peanuts with 100 children from a secondary school in Kwanga community in Jos. What an amazing effort! Do you want to run KidsHubs Training? Check out the resources here.
